As we age the skin becomes thinner and less resistant to wrinkling. Frequent, uncontrolled movement of certain group of facial muscles, may result in expression lines between your eyebrows (frown lines), horizontal forehead lines, and the lines that extend from the corners of your eyes (crow’s feet). Neuromodulators like Botox®, block the chemical signals that cause your muscles to contract, resulting in more relaxed appearance, wrinkle reduction and/or prevention.
Deep wrinkles that remain visible at rest may require dermal filler to fill in or lift skin. Folds around the mouth, nose and chin are the most commonly treated. Hyaluronic acid, made of a naturally occurring sugar polymer, is the most commonly used filler. Radiasse, a biostimulatory filler, may also be used.
